               งานวัด
      เป็นศูนย์กลางของชุมชน เป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจของผู้คน และเป็นสถานที่แรกๆ ที่ทุกครอบครัวจะนึกถึงเมื่อต้องการพักผ่อนหย่อนใจ คนไทยในอดีตจึงผูกพันกับวัดมากเป็นพิเศษ และเทศการที่ทุกคนต่างตั้งหน้าตั้งตารอก็คือ "'งานวัด" ซึ่งเป็นงานบุญประจำปี แต่ละวัดต่างๆ ถือเป็นวันมงคลในการจัดงานแตกต่างกันไป โดยในอดีตมักจะจัดงานกันตั้งแต่ในช่วงหนาว จนไปถึงปลายร้อนอีกปี

      เมื่อใกล้ถึงวันปีใหม่ สิ่งที่คนไทยต่างคุ้นเคยกันดีก็คือการได้รับปฏิทินศักราชใหม่ เพื่อนำมาใช้สอยและประดับประดาบ้านหรือโต๊ะทำงาน หรือเก็บเป็นของที่ระลึก ในประเทศไทยนั้นได้มีการจัดพิมพ์ปฏิทินขึ้นในครั้งแรก พ.ศ. 2385 แต่เป็นที่น่าเสียดายว่า ไม่มีการเก็บต้นฉบับชุดแรกของไทยไว้เลย

นอกจากเอกสารโบราณ พบว่าในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 6 ห้างร้านเจ้าของธุรกิจต่างๆ ได้เริ่มพิมพ์ปฏิทินบบเป็นของที่ระลึกกันอย่างคึกคัก

           การประกวดนางสาวไทยถือเป็นการประกวดนางงามรายการแรกของไทย จัดครั้งแรกเมื่อวันที่ 10 ธันวาคม พ.ศ. 2477 ภายหลังการเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครอง พ.ศ.2475 โดยใช่ชื่อว่า "นางสาวสยาม"
รัฐบาลได้จัดขึ้นในงานเฉลิมฉลองรัฐธรรมนูญ ภายในพระราชอุทานสราญรมย์ ซึ่งเป็นสโมสรคณะราษฎร มีการกำหนดระยะการจัดงาน 5 วัน คือวันที่ 8-12 ธันวาคม เป็นการประกวดนางสามสยาม โดยผู้เข้าประกวดแต่กายด้วยชุดไทย ต่อมาได้เปลี่ยนเป็นชุดเสื้อกระโปรงติดกัน ตัดเย็บด้วยผ้าไหมของไทย เสื้อเปิดหลัง กางเกง กระโปรงยาวถ฿งเข่า และได้เพิ่มการสวมใส่ชุดกีฬา เสื้อแขนกุดเปิดหลังในปีต่อมา
