      เมื่อใกล้ถึงวันปีใหม่ สิ่งที่คนไทยต่างคุ้นเคยกันดีก็คือการได้รับปฏิทินศักราชใหม่ เพื่อนำมาใช้สอยและประดับประดาบ้านหรือโต๊ะทำงาน หรือเก็บเป็นของที่ระลึก ในประเทศไทยนั้นได้มีการจัดพิมพ์ปฏิทินขึ้นในครั้งแรก พ.ศ. 2385 แต่เป็นที่น่าเสียดายว่า ไม่มีการเก็บต้นฉบับชุดแรกของไทยไว้เลย

นอกจากเอกสารโบราณ พบว่าในสมัยรัชกาลที่ 6 ห้างร้านเจ้าของธุรกิจต่างๆ ได้เริ่มพิมพ์ปฏิทินบบเป็นของที่ระลึกกันอย่างคึกคัก
